I will admit that I have never RAIDed drives, but I wouldn't have thought it to be so difficult. Here is what I have and what I have done.
Equipment:
Mobo: M2R32-MVP - JMicron JMB363
Drives: Dual Seagate Baracuda Drives 500GB Revision 3.AAK
I installed the drives into the case, changed BIOS setting to RAID, ran FastBuild Utility -> Made LD1, Set RAID 0, Stripe Cache:64kB Capacity 307200MB, Fast Intit: Off, Gigabyte Boundary: On, Cache Mode: WriteThru. Exited and Saved. Began Vista Setup via DVD. It detected no drives so I selected Load Drivers. I put in a CD with drivers V1.17.8.1 and 1.17.6.4 from the ASUS site. I was able to get a INF file to appear after chosing the folder Drivers/x32, select install, then hit refresh, but still no drive appeared. Same thing with both drivers.
In another post, PV5150 said, "The JMicron drivers will cause driver corruption; I had no end of trouble with them." I imagine he is correct, but what can be done? I don't quite understand using "iastor files."
Any suggestions of what I may have done wrong or what to do?
