What now? When I installed Vista on my MBP I used a 15gb partition and it took up about 12 or 13gb's IIRC.

The MS recommended free HD space for Vista is 15 GB. XP was 1.5 GB, Win 98 was 40 MB :D Can anyone say 'bloatware'

thanks for the answers.

then i need to throw in a third harddrive as i suspected to install it.

will probably do it tomorrow and 12-13gb, sounds like it take 2 days to install ;)

Actually the install process is fairly quick for such a monsterous OS. The only part that takes a bit is the "Extracting Files" section at the beginning which moves dog slow, but then picks up about 1/4 of the way in. From there on out everything runs pretty quick. Didn't seem to take that much longer to install than a standard untweaked XP install (I'm sure it does take longer, but for the huge difference in size between XP and Vista the install times definately don't coincide).

Let us know how you like Vista! I found the latest build rather impressive. I can't wait to see what the retail version has to offer, I might just call up one of my MS buds and have him send me a copy for the Macbook.

i can say much about vista but not that im impressed by it.

slow sluggish takes ages to load anything and refuses to cooperate with the sound.

the creative soundcard still doesnt work, the drivers i downloaded for the onboard sound refused to work.

downloaded realteks vista beta drivers but got complains and a message saying i should download vista drivers instead

will definitly stay with xp-

What build mate? Running it on my MBP it was snappy as heck and everything worked for me... Apple should ship the MBP's with "Vista Ready" logos on the boxes, haha.

dont remember 5380 or something.

an i-ram or highspeed raid configuration would probably speed things up but that shouldnt be a requirment for a fast and responsive os.

also the search function didnt work, failed to find several files i searched for which xp could find without any problem whatsoever.

Does that build come with the Aero interface on by default Raven, or is it not included yet? Anyway if you have no need for the 3D desktop and associated visual bling, just get the basic Vista version :)

I just installed build 5472 yesterday and everything works much better. Some of the user interface has changed and it feels much quicker than the first release of Beta 2....;)

Agreed, I was quite pleased with it actually.
