a time ago i saw someone with a problem where vista or vista 64 could not recognize the overclock reading in the system properties or any application that will take the reading from the windows, except the motherboard applications (ex. asus ai booster), and when i faced the same problem, i came up with the sonclusion that this is not a vista problem, instead it's a bios settings, and you have to disable the intel speed step in the bios, wich will change the clock of the cpu whenever needed, so if this setting is enabled, OS vista and i think (not tested) that xp is the same, will not read the OC clock, but it will show the default and the current clock as the default one.
now i turned the speedstep off and readings are ok.
P.S.: it seems that windows cant recognize more than 20 stepping, in fact my asus p6t deluxe board with the new bios have a 21 setpping, i setup the bclk to 175 and get a cpu speed reading 3.76 ghz in bios and in asus ai booster, but vista system properties show it only as 3.5 (175 x 20), maybe it's a os limition to read more than 20 steppings, and i dont mean more than 3.5, coz i tried to put 20 x 180 bclk, and vista show 3.6.....
someone correct me or shed the light technicaly if possible please.
