K i got a little problem here and you guys seem most knowledgeable with this OS. Ok so i have a copy of Ultimate here and so it has all editions of Vista on it.

Well im trying to install it on my laptop and everything seems ok until first boot. When it goes to boot into Windows the first time it stops at the loading screen.

Specs

Toshiba Tecra A4

Pentium M 1.6ghz

512mb PC3200

X600 Mobility Radeon

60gig Hitachi 5400RPM HD

DVD-RAM/CD-RW

15.4" Widescreen

At first it might be the Aero theme but ive tried everything from Vista Starter to Ultimate and they all lock up at the same spot. Any ideas?

Spec of a laptop I got Vista on atm, that scores 1.0 (with red warnings about stuff not being good enough) :

Mobile Cent 1.6

1G ddr400

Int G5M (something like that) Onboard gfx

80g hdd

Runs ~OK~ tho tbh, half the the resources are gone after booting but meh. Just email/web/office stuff. (Office XP works ok on it). No chocolate Aero on this, but the hogging sidebar works !

Could be that it`s hitting a driver problem for something, my first poc would be the m$ compatibility site and see what score the laptop gets. (of course u`d need to install a better OS on it to be able to do it atm). It could also be that the stoopid thing requires u to change u`r bios for some god-forsaken reason.

See i didnt think there would be a problem with specs except one thing. ATI dosent have any mobility drives for Vista and that could be it.

Nathan could be correct, give it a long haul - especially for it's apparent 'first go'.

I would have thought, if u'r gfx drivers were an issue, a Standard VGA driverset would install anyway. Are u seeing anything as it boots ?
