Valve engineer wants the Steam Deck to have a better screen

An OLED screen upgrade is harder than simply swapping out the Steam Deck's screen.

Just a real IPS or VA, with actual good colors would already be so much better. And probably be a drop-in replacement for whoever just want's to upgarde the Deck they have, doesn't even need to be higher resolution.

OLED would probably drive the price much too high and not be a drop-in replacement which makes it a hard pill to swallow, even though it looks so nice and I've been replacing all my screens with OLEDs these last years.

It could potentially hurt battery life too. In cases where you need more brightness it will consume more power. For medium/low brightness however it would likely give a small power efficiency improvement. Just my two cents.
