Hi all,

I would like to know whether or not anyone has actually tried using the screw ring from the XSPC dual bay D5 res, like this one:

on the photon 170/270 tube resevoir, as it looks exactly the same as the one that is used on the pump/res combo photon that is for sale. That and a retailer said that they work, however I dont believe the person I spoke to was very knowledgeable.

I thought as much, anyways thanks again.

Also that Switch of yours looks amazing, I have the same kit except with an RX240 and an extra Hardwarelabs GTX 420 Mounted at top and I have to say, your one just looks so neat and not to mention the blue scheme, that was what I was aiming for, however I ended up avoiding the colored fluids due to the unnecessary horrors I have head about them.

Anyways great looking build!

Also another thing, how did you get that light in the drive bay to shine so bright? Mine literally doesnt even light up the water in the res...

EDIT: Never mind, just finished reading through the thread and realized it was disbanded, great build nonetheless

I didn't really have any issues with the coolant I used. Most of the coloured stuff is alright as long as you avoid certain brands.

It was actually one of the Bitfenix LED strips in the drive bays iirc. The LED I had didn't even stay in the reservoir. The drive bays were about the only place I could neatly put the LED strip.

I'll have to go for watercooling again sometime. My rig just moves about too much these days making it more of a pain than it's worth for watercooling. Cheers for the comments nonetheless.

Anytime, also thanks for letting me know about the LED strip. Also to be honest I think it was a good idea to not move it around, as for some reason this case seems flimsy at times, though must have been hard to see it go :(

Also if you could spare a little more time, what brands should I avoid for coolant? As I got a free 1L bottle of EK UV blue coolant and Also what would you recommend.

The only one I've heard issues about has been Mayhem's X1 with TTL.

EK, XSPC, Feser, etc. should all be fine. It's always worth googling around to see if anyone has had any problems with them though.

Yea, I tried that too, however only found a few that complained about some gunk buildup in their loop. though many people dont seem to get that problem, so I suspect that maybe they didnt flush/clean their components properly first,.

Anyways will probably give the EK UV blue coolant a try when I perform my next tear down.

Cheers
