I don't get what is the reasoning behind this, china already has nuclear weapons, so there is nothing to worry about in weapon side of thing, it almost looks like they don't want any advances made in nuclear energy by any other country than themselves, the explanation they gave makes zero sense

Having it is not the end of it all. Still more research to be done. Those computers can be used in planning nuclear attacks and other things (deployment mechanisms including aircraft, work on using stolen stealth fighter tech, miniaturizing etc etc etc etc).

My guess is they know whats going on in those facilities already.

And ultimately its in intels interest not to help china. Unless intel thinks they can move their company to china and be successful if anything happened to the US.

Not trying to spark a political debate here (this is a tech forum after all) but it wouldn't be the first time the US accuses a country of doing something to use it as an accuse for attacks (whether military or economical) on 'rival' countries. WMD's in the middle east anyone?

Even though the US themselves do have nuclear technology, no that's fine but when other countries do it they're a threat to the world. Also remember when the US accused China of spying on other governments? Haha, oh wait...

I think it's really weird that a government can forbid a company to do business with another government personally.

Its best not to spark a political debate by not bringing up conspiracies. Every government spies on others. Whether they admit it or not. It's always a test of who can swing the biggest stick between them. That's really all we know tbh.

USA knows that China, in time, can get ahead of them so they need to slow them down.

They've basically propped up china for it. I am not sure how that will play out though. China has too many people and hostile neighbors with differing interests. The US is in an ideal place. 2-3 major countries near it, massive land, relatively small population.

China will should be able to get up there in terms of tech though. I am sure intel worries about a chinese company emerging to rival them.

This was exactly my point, it wasn't a conspiracy

Most can be, its the government you have to watch out for :D
Agreed! It's never the people I worry about. Americans are pretty damn nice folks in my experience, but you NEVER trust the rulers of ANY country, mine included. The slaves are always cool, it's the slave owners you need to watch out for. :D
