Hi guys i want to buy a new video card, but i dont have much money, i have 2 options

8400 GForce 512mb

or a

1550 Radeon 256

I want the nvidia because it supports DX10, but its 64 bits.

I know the best answer is save more money, but i want this to play, i dont play too much i just want to play smoother than mi gma950.Will any of this cards will make a big difference between my gma950?

Thanks for all!:wavey:

btw is there a big difference between 8500 and 8400?because in money the difference is really big, is another card(i mean in my country) And i even got 2 differents 8500 both GT but one 256 and other 512 even there is a difference?a mean a significant difference because is just $10

Any dedicated gfx card will be much better than what you have.

Here is a review of the 8400 GS. It seems to do ok in games, obviously the 8500 will add that little bit extra.

You should overclock whichever card you get to boost performance using RivaTuner...

Yup i read that review, sounds ok for me but those 64bits...

thats why im still thinking about a 8500, is the first ill buy a video card i've played with onboard cards. But should i really buy that?like a said the difference between those is another 8400, 2*8400=8500.

Thats why i want to know the difference in those "little big extra" , because with the money i can upgrade my linux box :D

I just found another chep 7300gt 128bits, would that be better?Damn too hard to understand this things

Well for a start Toms isn't the best place to look

Mebbe the 8500 will be a bit slower, but why buy old tech? Tjhe 512mb wouldn't be any faster, especially not at low res and considering more memory usually means it is more latent if it is running at the same speed

Thats the only reason why im going to buy the 8500 because the 7600 is a bit old, if i could buy a 7800 that would be different :P

hope new drivers from that 8500gt will help it a bit in a near futureand $20 between 7600 and 8500 is not that much but 60 to get a 8600 is too much for me

thanks for all

well a 7900 is a bit too much for me, i was making numbers and with some jobs and with my gf maybe we could buy a 8600gt fatal1ty i know is better than a 8400gs, but this is my new question, i have a p4 3.0ghz HT with a 945gtp motherboard, should i buy that video card o just a lower one, i mean i want to use it to get the best quality i can but my processor should slow it a lot, i dont plan to buy a new box until next year or maybe 2.

So what would you do guys?

:o i just found another video card i found a 8600gt xfx but for 10 i could buy the fatal1ty, but i found a 8600gt msi $30 less than the fatal1ty its a considerable difference, which one should i get?

Another problem to consider is dust, i get a lot of dust in my pc, my cousin's video card fan couldnt move for that, so for that reason i guess the fatal1ty is better strange review...
