Upgrade laptop CPU

So I am waiting for this laptop to get to me (http://usa.asus.com/Notebooks/Business/P53E/) Just ordered it through amazon for $680. But the biggest CPU you can get for it is an i5 2410m which is the G2 socket. I was looking at upgrading that CPU to a i7 2720qm which is also a G2 socket. Other than a dual core (i5) to a quad core (i7) the only difference I can find is that the i5 uses 35w while the i7 uses 45w. Other than battery life should I expect any problems getting the i7?

I have replace laptop CPUs in the past, but have never upgraded them. If anyone has any insight on this let me know?

The BIOS has to support it and the cooling has to be able to disperse the extra wattage. Of course ASUS doesn't list supported chips. Your best bet is to look for other people who have upgraded it. You might find it has a BIOS limitation of not allowing HT, or not allowing >35W, or not allowing the extra cache etc.

I upgraded my old ASUS laptop and it took a ton of research to find the fastest supported CPU. I eventually did, but ASUS was no help. They only listed a few models that it was originally sold with. It came with a 1.8GHz C2D I ended up using a 2.5GHz C2D.

Honestly, 45W is a heck of a lot for a laptop to handle... The XPS M1730 laptop I used for a while had a 45W processor in it and it was pretty darn warm even under light load... I doubt that a stock laptop cooler could handle it without a downclock...

I found out that the largest processor is the current largest i5 for mobile processor. No i7. But the i5 that I could get for it is just a higher clocked version of the one in there. I am sure there will be some overclock headroom on the laptop to reach that higher i5 speed. After all it is an ASUS product.
