Updating The Bios (If it ain't broke, dont fix it?)

Hey, I am currently downloading all the latest drivers and was about to update the Bios but I have read in the mobo manual that it says, quote "If there is no problem using the current version of BIOS, DO NOY manually update the BIOS."

So the big question is, do I update it or do I not? and btw it is woking without a problem at the moment

BIOS updates are meant to bring extra support for new devices, chips, etc., or fix report problem with older version.

all BIOS are backwards compatible - so, it never hurts to have the newest version

My advice would be to update to the latest BIOS version when you first install your system. Then in the future only update the BIOS if it adds some functionality that you use.

I think it depends on how new the mobo and/or gpu is, as most makers have built in flash utilities that are for the most part, fail safe. When problems do occur, its usually b/c the instructions were not followed properly. eg.. you must powerdown and manually reset the bios/CMOS, after the update/roll back is complete.
