Hi all, Recently I added a 5870 for Crossfire. When playing games or benching my computer shuts down with no warning. Could this be a PSU problem?

PSU Ultra X4 1050 Watt

920 Clocked to 4.0GHz HT on @ 1.33125v

cards clocked @ core 1103 mem 1250 1.35v

mem 6gb @ 1600MHz 1.65v

Asus P6X58D-P

Thanks in advance.

PS: This only happens when I overclock both cards. I can disable crossfire and overclock one card and play games fine.

Definitely pointing to a lack of power. Anything showing up in Windows Event viewer?

The computer only shuts down while playing Crysis2 or running 3Dmark11. I ran Furmark with both cards overclocked to the max with no problem.

My cards are overclocked @ 1002MHz on the core and 1270MHz on the mem. drawing 1.23v from both cards. I'm starting to think its not my psu but maybe a driver problem.

Well gents I have found my Problem Its silly really. What happened is The last time I had taken my PSU out I had switched the 24 pin connector backwards. The "to motherboard" was plugged in to the PSU and the "to power supply" was plugged in to the Motherboard.

It seems the # 20 pin optional -5 VDC had a wire plugged into it causing all my problems. I can overclock again
