Your not the only one who hasnt heard of them mate :rollingla
I hadnt heard of them but was searching round OcUK forums and found a link to them as someone was recommending them. I thought the prices were fair but didnt know anything about the company itself and the website didnt look anything special. So I got in touch with the guy who was reccomending them to someone else and had a good chat to him about them.
Here is a taste of the conversation just so you get why I have joined a company I knew nothing about last week.
I said
"So what do you think of the service ?"
Reply
"ive been with them for a month and its the best ISP i've had since I first got ADSL and ive been with eclipse, plusnet and zen"
I said
"Do you play any games and what are your pings like ?"
Reply
"yeah im a bit of a CS nut"
He then pinged a UK server and got the following results:
Pinging
www.jolt.co.uk [82.133.85.65] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=55 Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=55 Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=55 Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=55 Ping statistics for 82.133.85.65: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss)
I then asked him to ping another server just to make sure those pretty good pings were not a one off:
Pinging northernrc.com [213.230.203.134] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 213.230.203.134: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=57 Reply from 213.230.203.134: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=57 Reply from 213.230.203.134: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=57 Reply from 213.230.203.134: bytes=32 time=14ms TTL=57 Ping statistics for 213.230.203.134: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0
As you can see thats a pretty good connection so at this point I got a little more intrested. I then continued asking more questions.
I said
"So you find the service reliable ?"
Reply
"yeah ive never had any problems, except for a stuck bras profile (but thats a BT issue independent of the ISP)"
I said
"My only worry is that I imagine there will be alot of heavy users on it so it may become slow at time "
Reply
"ah but thats where you are wrong
UKFSN is a reseller for Enta
so everything connection wise is provided by enta
your hostname will end with enta.net
Enta itself is a business only ISP
which means that they always ensure to have enough bandwidth across their pipes
and it means that when other ISPs typically have speed problems (evenings and weekends), most of Enta's customer base is offline (being all the businesses)
leaving bandwith for us
as ive said, i consistenly download at over 700kbytes/s at all times of the day
We then just rambled on about how crap plusnet are and he seemed a fairly genuine person. So after a little further investigating I thought I would go for it as its only a 1 month contract.
And now I am here waiting to be migrated... :yumyum:
I will let you know what my pings are like once I am on but to be honest all I want is a solid ping of around 30ms (not bouncing up and down like it does on plusnet) and anything else I will just class as a bonus.
