Hello lads!
My new PC is working like a charm, but sadly that can not be said for my old PC. Used to have Shuttle XPC with Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 inside along with GF 8800 GTS (yes, it fits, you just need to use hammer) and 4GB of ram. Gave it to my girlfriend and less than a month later it was dead. First went the GPU so I told her to buy a new one... aaaaaand than went the motherboard which renders whole Shuttle useless.
I can only assume that CPU and RAM are still in working order. So maybe I could only buy the new motherboard with 775 socket? That would be the cheapest way since I have one case laying around with old 400W Chieftec PSU inside. Should be enough to power system with Radeon 7750 that she has now.
But than I would only wait when would something else die from an old PC. I know disk is close to it's death but should keep working for at least 6 months or so and in that time I'll buy her a new one. For now I have 200€ to spend on an upgrade of sorts. All I really need is motherboard + CPU + RAM (dunno if old DDR2 would work on new mobos? But new ram these day is very cheap).
So I was thinking maybe this? Only need something that can run, lets say Sims 3 (7750 should be able to handle that with no problems). I'll be honest with you and say that I have no idea if any of these components are any good or worth their money - but they do look ok I guess. Only shame mobo doesn't have USB3 but it's not the end of the world
What do you say? Maybe go with AMD?
