Two Razer prototypes have been stolen at CES 2017

" All Razer's prototypes are not intended for the mass market and are designed to gauge interest in the unique features of each product"

looks like at least one person was interested.

inb4 this turns up on Linus Tech Tips as a 'look what we stole from CES lol' gag reel

So I don't see it in your post but apparently Razer is offering a 25,000 USD reward for information for any information that could lead to the identification or capture of any guilty party.

Three possible scenarios I can think of.

1. It was fake (or at least hybrid) tech and they're worried they'll be caught out by the thieves. For example the triple 4k laptop was actually streaming from a more powerful unit.

2. The theft was a crime of opportunity - sell it to the highest bidder or just because you want it in your man cave. Good luck getting driver support...

3. Industrial Espionage. But why steal it from one of the most watched Electronics expos of the year? If it does turn up in another manufacturers tech then it's going to be obvious.

The whole thing is pretty strange!

4. There was never any theft. And BBC claim of publicity stunt was correct.

Probably. The whole thing is odd. Why bother though?

Maybe insurance on a prototype can allow them to claw back millions in lost cash from a failed product.

I would think a triple monitor laptop would suck so much power the battery would be pointless. they might as well only provide a psu. Also look at the setup. What if we have limited space and only want to use 1 screen. Doesnt look feasible unless single screen is on the left monitor when its collapsed. If that is the case, the monitor section would be quite unbalanced and top heavy? How do you adjust the monitor angle when you have three stacked screens behind one another. I doubt it would stay in place nicely.

One would be bad, but several ?, dont they chain them to desks and have trackers on them or something. And its not like there small, cant exactly stick them in your back pocket. Where were the razor employes lol

Not sure if they were stolen off the CES floor or maybe behind the scenes. Either way, something smells fishy here. CES being one of the biggest tech events of the year showing lack of security and allowing it to happen? hmm I think not.

I agree there is something dodgy, an i know screens are getting stupid thin but wernt those laptops massive, have 3 4k screens and not exactly fold up flat, they must weigh a ton to.

Because how long does it take to notice they are gone, they have people who come in at set times to test and review them dont they, so between one person leaving and then the next person it would be instantly, 'er excuse me but there is nothing here, and why does that guy look pregnant' as he points to the last person who was there and is doing the scooby doo villian sneak =00=.

I knew it!
