Hey guys,

To start with my rig -
Case - Cooler Master Elite 430 / X4 Bit Fenix spectre 120mm
PSU - Corsair CX600X2
Motherboard - MSI Z77A-G45
CPU - Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz / Cooler NZXT Havik 140
GPU - AMD Radeon HD 6870 / Cooler XFX DoubleD
HDD - 500GB Western Digital Blue

Today I was playing bioshock infinite and was lagging a bit but over all playable so I checked the temps and usage of my rig. The CPU with the big Havik was about 70-100% and 45-50 degrees C but the GPU was at 100% and 70 degrees which is pretty good considering the size of the case. When I checked the fan speed it said it was only at 60-70%.

So I was wondering if you guys could offer some suggestions to how I can get the temp down?

Thanks!

The XFX doubleD coolers aren't exactly the best.

Maybe look to upgrade it at some point.

To try and get the temps down, case fans blowing over the card is the first step. Also, remove all the PCI slot covers on the case, as the GPU dumps hot air into the case, so it will be able to get out easier without them.

If that still doesn't affect the temps enough for your liking, you could take off the cooler, reapply the thermal paste with something better such as Noctua NT-H1...
But you should really look to buying another one.

Maybe a bigger, less cramped case too. Move hard drives to the top or bottom HDD bay so air can get through easier - make sure cables aren't blocking airflow at all.

All things to try.

When talking about upgrading is there anything in specific that your talking about or the whole rig?

Thanks.
