hey guyz

im havin a spot of bother.

for the past week now, whenever i try to start my pc up, it stays at the welcome screen for about 10-20 seconds before going to the desktop.

ive tried disabling all non-microsoft services, tried disabling all startup items, tried running bootvis, defrag says the drive doesnt need defragging, chkdsk doesnt turn up much......

and i havent done a hardware upgrade recently, nor have i updated any drivers/software

ive also run adaware, spybot S&D, xoftspy - they turn up nothing.

ne ideas?

i had this problem a while ago, cant think what exactly fixed it tho. tried restting the bios? think thats what did it for me

Format is a good solution to all Windows problems that seem to occur unrelated to anything... I hate Windows.

Tryed booting up in safe mode to see if thats any different?

Are you the only person who uses the pc or is it a family unit?

in safe mode boot time is reduced to about 15secs (full boot - bloomin amazin imho).

and im the only one that uses this pc, no1 else has access to it.

ive found out what was wrong.

as ive got dual LAN ports, it seems that it was trying to find a network on the second (unused) lan port.......

weird, but meh, its solved it - thx for all the help guyz.
