TorrentSpy Loses

sweet mother of.. thats crazy.. they can't actually expect them to pay that surely?

who has that kind of money laying around!....?!

wonder how long it is before mininova appears in the crosshairs, demonoid is back online again but seems a little muted, but wow.. bye bye torrentspy

Thats utter bs.

Fair play they lost, fair play they should pay. But they're just a couple of guys. How the hell are they sposed to come up with that kind of money? I heard they filed for bankruptcy already.

MPAA better give that money to charity or something tbh.

omg...the mpaa are greedy gits tbf how can they pay that much?

they were playing with fire and now they get burnt...

once they have the big public ones are they goin to go for private?

They (film companies etc) want to get the message across that if your breaking the law, you face the consequences. It has to be a huge sum like that, probably about right as well for the sheer traffic through ts, for people to take notice.

If they were fined $20,000 we'd all be laughing, or maybe we'd never hear about it.

It`s a pointless costing cos they`ll never pay it - not even if they buy that $1 scratch card.

So the money will turn into time served. How`s that equate ? The rest of ur life ? 20 years ?

A bit more than u get for killing some1 ? So we putting a price on life ?

The whole idiotic thing about this is, not just this case, but how these things work - u close 1, 100s will attempt to replace it, a % being good enough to succeed and learn from others mistakes.

There`s a demand, it`ll be supplied.

they filed bankrupt before the ruling so its a pointless sum which is there entirely for publicity and to get noticed tbh.. f'ing bulls't

Haha what an utterly stupid amount of money :S, I doubt the Queen of England could afford that :P.

For hosting a website that allows people to share files, I did not see the owners doing anything wrong. They could of said we didn't upload nor download any material, the website was created in notepad for a project... It got big and people were abusing our service, we just thought nothing would happen but it did. Im sorry mr judgy wudgy, but I'm sure you have visited the site at home more than once.

They did nothing wrong tbh, I never seen a torrent from torrentspy, plus they just LINKED to most sites like Mininova ... WTF?

Did torrentspy even use their own trackers? I dont remember so

Ill say again, why are they going down so hard on lets face it...petty crimes when murderers are gettin out with only doing 10 years inside and not paying any compensation at all?

I remember looking on the site a few years ago to read about what was happening, then they suddenly went offline.

I havent used the site in a while but personally i think it was over-rated, too many ads and annoying link you have to go through to find a good server.

Anywhos, i feel sorry for them. I donate monthly to my torrent site to keep them running so hey, i consider it as paying my way. Time to use an ip blocker or peer guardian just to be sure. ;)

Roflcopter to this. Pirates will be around forever so i dont see the point in making an example of 2 people when it will just cause more loss for them (Hollywood). Maybe if they didnt premier their videos over in Japan before us 2 (UK and US) there wouldnt be so much pirating.

I dont know if i agree with that, personally, i think its stupid with the massive fine, but i dont think people download due to it not coming out at a certain date, i think its simply down to not wanting to have to pay, OR, for people who have seen ALL of the good movies they can think of, then they simply want to watch something new, or something exciting.

Downloading illegally will never stop. Maybe the big companies should consider getting all of their movies, slapping them on a database and letting us download for a seriously small fee. Eg. movies not in the cinema, say, £1 a time. That way, with enough subscribers they would still bring in money. If someone guaranteed me maximum downloading speed constantly for a £1 a movie, I'd pay.

Its something for them to consider at least ;)

(it wont happen though)

Idk bout you guys, but i know a

ton of people here in the US thats tired of movies being recorded here and Japan gets to see them first. Im sure you guys are just as fed up with us and Japan getting hardware before yall. For me i just want to watch the movie when it really comes out. Not when they decide to release it in the US.
