Tom Clancy's The Division DirectX 12 PC Performance Review

Is it me or are the red bars showing DX 12 and DX 11 averages identical in colour? how are we supposed to know which is which?

Ed. OK I guess the one on top of the white or gray is the corresponding one to the API? so DX12 sucks balls basically.

Sorry about that, I guess the colour don't looks as similar on some screens. Or perhaps my colour acuity is better than average.

I'll redo the graphs and reupload them. (graphs have been reuploaded for more contrast)

OK so looks like the same story as with a number of other implementations of DX12 AMD gains a few FPS on average while Nvidia takes a bit of a hit in DX12 mode.

Yeah should be very different colors, sometimes I forget which is which and have to keep looking toward the bottom to figure out what colors is what.

Although this just goes to show again even Nvidia's beloved $2bill investment in Pascal still can't do well in DX12. Now it's just a beta and they may not be supporting all the features, but I don't expect them to change much with an official release with that or performance(as in all cards see a boost in general).
Then again as I look at the graphs again, AMD didn't really fair that well either, better than Nvidia, but overall it was not great. So hopefully it's just badly optimized atm. DX12 has a lot of potential especially for a demanding game like this

Thing is, you get superior performance by running the game with DX11/Nvidia in any resolution but 4K. I would expect Fury X to be better than 980ti. Bad port to DX12 or DX12 is not what its hyped to be?

All things Division considered, bearing in mind the devs got fundamental things like "protection from Elites" wrong (it gave them a damage bonus against you instead of reducing it ... hur dur...), and a whole plethora of things that quite literally did the very opposite of what they were supposed to.

I'd imagine, bad port.

I think many, if not all, mistakes are due to them being relatively new (never heard of them before and don't know what they made previously) and taking a bigger bite than they could chew. And as with most first iterations of Ubisoft published games, they aren't superb - the second one is usually closer to expectations.

I'd love to agree with you but Massive have been around for quite a while. There was no excuse for some of the things they got wrong.

A none exhaustive list includes:

Ground Control (2000) Ground Control 2 (2004)
World In Conflict (2007) and the expansion (2009)
Assasin's Creed Revelations (2011)
Far Cry 3 (2012)
They worked on UPlay itself for PC
Just Dance now
And most recently of course, the Division.

There were rumours the original dev team left Massive hence the current team's complete lack of understanding of the core fundamentals of it. But who knows...

Ah I stand corrected! I didn't know that silly enough. But yeah on many occasions I've wondered what they were doing. I will stop playing now other than maybe a daily boss run for the money until the very last patch has landed.
