To all 57-FX owners

I have purchased a new 57-FX and have started to overclock it on water.

At present I am a little dissapointed with its abillities in its o'clocking.

I have been running it at 2.972 100% prime stable but needed a whole 1.530vcore to do so. I think I could get a 3ghz stable clock with some more vcore.

Now I know its no week 16 but is this what the average 57-FX clocks like?

Can I expect it to improve once its run it a bit more?

What should I expect with a Mach GT on it too?

Thx guys.:)

3ghz on water is excellent my friend if you can get there. These things get toasty, and the hotter the cpu the harder it is to overclock.

Yep thats true, plus your are limited by the stepping of the product too, some clock better than others.

You should be proud, not disappointed - or consider purchasing a better cooling system than you currently have. EP-UK have a cracking range of waterblocks and thermochill rads that may benefit your cause.

Ok as a rule, if I was to get 3ghz on water , on average what will a mach gt allow for, is it about 300mhz like with the clawhammer cores?

I would expect to see 3.4Ghz on any FX57 cooled with a Prometeia GT.

Cheers

My watercooling is pretty good atm with a triple thermo he range rad and swifty 6000 block and 650 pump, only thing letting it down atm is the fact I am only using 1 of the 3 panaflo fan as theses some thing wrong with the fan controler.

I also have a mach GT coming at the end of the month (cant wait:D )

I have a old 3500+130nm chip that I am gonna test with the mach first to make sure I get the install right before putting the 57 under it:eek:

It's good, but the new PA series is better, only having one fan working a massive set-back when cooling an FX57 - you might crack 3Ghz if all were working nicely.

I bet ur getting all fired up for the GT though - it'll be an exciting and rewarding time for you - patience my friend patience.

My old 3500 claw did 2860 under my prom may have done more but I was limited to 260fsb at the time my fx57 does 3.4 all day long it will do more but I just dont have the pateince to play with all the dfi settings at the mo to busy playin games and building pc's etc

Fatty my 3500+ does 2.7 on water so am hoping for maby 3ghz which would be nice. How long should I run this on my mach to make sure the install in ok, will any condensation start to effect the comp straight from the start or will it take a while?

Also your 3.4 is on a modded mach where mine will be standard(well at least for a while)

What week is your 57FX?

If it's a gpmw I'd be surprised to see less than 3.5Ghz under SS.

Gollum are these the first letters at the start of the second row of letters on the chip? Ifso I think mine starts with ca something.

An I correct in assuming that SS stands for single stage?

Also consider that the phase unit Geo uses will be r404 (not a bad gas but tuned for 180w cooling).

Now we know what the stepping is, I think 3.4 is realistic.

I think mine is a week 20 or 22 FX condensation will form within a day or so just leave your pc running for 24 hours let it cool down/warm up after you switch it off before you try to remove the head DO NOT REMOVE THE HEAD WHILE IT IS SUBZERO WAIT TILL IT HITS ROOM TEMPERATURE or you may find you rip the chip out of the socket

seeing condensation really bothered me when I disassembled the Mach head. I used conformal coating and dielec in the relevant places, but would be a million times happier if it wasnt there. If even you guys are still getting condensation but havent killed anything, should I stop worrying?

If the mach is install correctly am I right in thinking that there is no need for grease and conformal coating and that you'll never get any condensation probs?

Or is it just impossible to stop condensation from occuring?

This really is my main concern with getting a mach.

Condensation forms when you get air in the gaps then moisture forms ie condensation as long as everything is sealed 100% it should be fine I use dialetic grease for peace of mind plus I am using a modded unit

Sry yes. :o

I forget it can also stand for screenshot, suicide shot, seal string (maybe) and god knows what else. I really think 3.5 should be on the cards with a GT though.
