Titanium Rated PSU's

Seeing as more and more companies are releasing Titanium rated PSU's, I'm just wondering, Who are these actually aimed at ?

I have a platinum rated PSU as it was on sale for like £15 more than the same wattage Gold PSU I was getting so I thought "Hell why not".

Now Superflower are releasing Titanium rated PSU's gong from 750w to 1600w, 750w ?

I can understand the 1600w Titanium as the only people buying that will have 3 or 4 way SLI/Xfire and need the best possible ripple and Efficiency under load but 750w Titanium ??? Un-needed overkill or is it just me ?
 
Un needed probably yeah but the way i see it with technology making strides more and more in terms of efficiency, being less power hungry and so on I figure why the hell not. Who doesn't wanna feel that teenie teenie bit better that their beast of a system is working as cleanly and power efficient as possible
 
if you're going to use it long enough you will potentially save more money than bronze or gold rated 750w. For people that have their beast machine on for 24/7, getting best efficiency out of it makes sense.

its all dependent on how you run your system, budget, giving a fuck and other factors.

generally those £15 or w/e are worth spending to get more efficient psu.

if you're going to use it long enough you will potentially save more money than bronze or gold rated 750w. For people that have their beast machine on for 24/7, getting best efficiency out of it makes sense.

The power/money you would save would be minuscule, I believe it was either LTT or TekSyndicate who did the maths for this but you would essentially save around £15 a year in electricity using a Platinum over a bronze if both were the same wattage and under the same load daily.

If it was for a main watercooled rig I would just want it as efficient as possible and well over specced for the task at hand tbh, but I wouldn't want a Superflower unless they go to a conventional connector with a sensible pin-out.

Superflower use the highest quality Nippon Chemi Con Japanese capacitors (KMQ series) rated at 105c.

You've got to remember going from 96 to 98% efficiency at a given power output is halving the heat output. If were talking 1000W that's 20W out instead of 40W which could well be the difference between passive and not passive. I mean it's a huge difference when you look at it that way, hypothetical situation ofc, but it could be along those lines.

The easiest way to do the above is to use two.:D

This also means that a lot of the time the fans don't even spin up and where the PSUs are not outputting their maximum a lot of the time they are running at their absolute peak efficiency.:)

If you get near a PSUs maximum output the efficiency suffers a bit.

Kaap dude I think you are in the extreme minority when it comes to the amount of hardware put into a single case, 2 x PSU's, Insanity ^_^

I imagine your rig lets out a feint hum like a power plant when in use :p
