Apparently, Origin can do one of their Chronos Z systems with a $3,000USD Titan Z GPU and a $750USD ASUS 4k screen, for less than $4,000USD.

That's £2,383 in Sterling.

Am I missing something glaringly obvious here? That's way cheaper than I could possibly build one by buying separate components!

Speccing a system with a 4690K, 240GB SSD and 1TB HDD, and 16GB 2133 RAM comes to $3997USD.

What is everyone else's thoughts on this? Bargain, or too good to be true?

My gut feeling is it's all about bragging rights - only an idiot would choose a Titan Z over a way cheaper 780Ti SLI setup which outperforms it, or even the 295X2 which beats both and is still significantly cheaper than the Z.

But yeah pretty soon I can see lost of "ZOMG muh TITANZZZZ!!!!" posts dominating a fair few hardware forums...

i just did-

I saw the BOGOF Titan Zs ad, but strangely there doesn't seam to be any way to configure a system with two Titan Zs?

EDIT to add:

Certainly not as much as a bargain to UK customers, because by the time shipping and taxes are added on it's £3,547 UK Sterling.

F*** it, I'm emigrating to the States.

Not to accuse anyone of anything here but didn't some info come up about Nvidia and Origin PCs having a deal to use Nvidia cards in their systems?

Maybe now they're getting a sweet deal on the cards from Nvidia. Can imagine they want to get rid of them cause honestly no one with a brain would buy a Titan Z.

Probably doesn't cost much to make a Titan anyway so now they've got a deal that seems crazy, its actually probably nearer the actual cost and NVIDIA still making a profit, just not as much as when they're feeling greedy.

currently talking to my dad who owns a huge pc store, we are probably getting one of these things as partnership with them o.O

well forget that... it will be a show piece and we aren't allowed to touch it...

The 295X2 or rather you need two of them is not a very good choice for 4K, Titan Black Editions are the way to go and for some games you are going to need more.

Here is the VRAM usage on Titans running Watch Dogs maxed out @4K, Hawaii cards need not apply they won't even run at the settings. I also hate to think about any notion of using 780ti's.

Finally, someone who knows what they're talking about.

4k memory usage will be ridiculous lads..

Even titanfall at 1200p uses the full 3GB of vram on my 780's now... I can only imagine what would happen at 4k!

Watchdogs is incredibly vram heavy as it's a console port, and consoles have 8gb vram. And I think this is the way games will go in the future as it's now very easy to port from console to PC. Two Titan Blacks is still cheaper than one Titan Z, so again no point at all going for the Z.
