This is starting to look a bit strange with all these price drops from nvidia, especially when they have no reason to drop prices an AMD are due to release a card very soon

Exactly, now it's more tempting to not wait for AMD and get an Nvidia card instead cause it's 'cheaper' (while in reality it is now pretty much at the price it should've been at launch).

Haha i cant wait for the 16th to come, so all the AMD roumours can be but to bed.....and hopefully nvidia get a arse kicking

I think Gibbo at OcUK is just taking the opportunity to shift a few more as the 980 Ti is in very short supply.

People are attributing this to AMD - it won't be. It will all be due to the 980ti being a lot cheaper and almost the exact same power. The price drop will most likely become permanent in a few months.

Why are the 980Ti in a very short supply and will they come around?...

There is massive demand just after launch and yes it should come round.

Gibbo @OcUK ordered 5000 units for the launch and ended up with about 1% of that for launch day.

What? Sure that is cheap for the performance, but enjoy your hairdryer that can't do 4k.

2 (or 3) should sort 4k out with change left over to replace the leafblower with a nice water block, it seems like a solid alternative to me. I can appreciate the 980Ti's place but the Titan X is still a mad prospect at £800. Totally see why somebody might want 3 or 4 though when the vram can be put to good use.

4GB though, but yeah incredible value also.

Aye, though it depends what the person wants really. If they want the best performance then like everything in life, you have to pay a lot more for it. But if you want cheap and cheerful then AMDs clearance stock is a bargain. I would not be surprised if the Titan continues to drop in the coming months as the difference between it and the 980ti do not justify the cost, plus it would make room for a dual gpu card to come in at the ~ £1400 mark.

- does not justify the cost -

imo none of them are worth their price for the amount of ""performance gain "" you get.
