tips: xbox chipping, evoX etc

hey people

im on a mission to tart up my xbox that just dont get used any more, i have found a xecuter for 20£ which from what i been reading is one of the best chips around, but have been looking at solderless chips.

basicly i want to turn it into a media center with 160GB hd at least, im going to need evoX dash and XBMC

basicly i looked around on the net for clear cut all in one guides but i dont think google likes me today so if anyone has experiance in the sector let me know what stuff im going to need, chip, soldering iron, xbox mem card etc n a ruff guide i learn fast

if it wasnt there wouldnt be website selling the chips all a mod chip is, is basically the original bios from the xbox but modified so the xbox doesnt look for DRM and media TAGs on the games discs! if you didnt know you know what to do he he im cheeky

this thread here explains that mod chips are not illegal

it is illegal to buy them in the UK but the CHIPS thems self are not illegal in xbox's and ou cant get done for talking about chipping

Some BIOS's are illegal, which is why some chips come with the linux (cromwell) BIOS rather than the custom ones. The Xecuter chips come with the Xecuter BIOS which was illegal at one time. (also there are loads of different xecuter chips, some don't work with the v1.6 xbox's)

I have chipped a few xbox's and have a gallery section on my website showing some hardware stuff.

I'm not sure if the software is illegal (Evo-X etc) but you can get all that if you know where to look.

I didn't reply to this thread straight away as I thought kempez or someone might see it as being illegal and not want it on their forum.

evox is made with the microsoft sdk which was leaked. Therefor this is illigal. There is no legal way to overcome the microsft security to play "backups" (in orther words copies as i dont think anyone actually makes a backup for there own use). but as mentioned above, the cromwell bios allows you to legally use linux on your xbox.

evo-x dash is not illegal i been lookin it up, i just cant get hold of it the one place i can get it i got banned from there FTP server as my pc kept dropping connection and reconnecting

EDIT: so if anyone has evo-X dash that would be brilliant, i want to be able to put my game discs on my HD and dont jsut want XBMC on there

I'm pretty sure evo-x is illegal as nathan said, it was based on illegal leaked code which is why there is no official website to download it from etc.
