Tighter timings? Or Higher frequenties?

Hey y'all!

I'm in a bit of a pickle, I can't decide whether to buy a 1600MHz CL8, 1866MHz CL9 or 2133MHz CL9 2x4GB kit...? (the last one at a higher price of course.) I will use the memory mostly for gaming, and some light video editing.

There are mixed opinions on the web. Some say you'd be better of buying a lower latency kit, because you wouldn't notice an increase of performance above 1600MHz. And others say a higher frequenty will overrule the low (tight) timings.

What would you guys suggest me buying?

My system specs are:

Maximus V Formula
Intel Core i7 3770k
Radeon HD 7950 Royal King
Corsair AX860
OCZ Vertex 4 SSD
WD 2TB HDD
Corsair M60 Mouse
Corsair K90 Keyboard

Ivy bridge prefers more speed over tighter timings I think. Whats the price difference between them? If it's a silly amount to get 2133 over 1866 go for the 1866

Thanks for the quick reply!

Both the 1600MHz CL8 and the 1866MHz CL9 kits are 85,50(EU) or 109,48(USD). The 2133MHz kit is 108,50 or 138,93(USD).

So a difference of right around 23,-(EU) or 29,45(USD)

Performance over looks

I passed on the idea of buying Corsair Dominator Platinums. I fell in love with them the first time I laid my eye on them. But they're just to pricey, in a "bang for buck" kind of way.

Instead, I'm now planning on buying a nice 2x4 2400Mhz CL9/CL10 kit (for example: Corsair Vengeance Black or the Kingston HyperX Beast)

Thanks for the advice though!

Greetings,

RTWP
