Thoughts on new soundcard

Hello guys

I'm wanting to get a new soundcard for gaming and audio, and tbh I'm over Creative's buggy drivers etc. Their new X-Fi cards look ok, but are extremely dear here in Aus. I was looking at either a BLUEGEARS B-Inspirer 7.1 Sound Card or Auzentech HDA X-Mystique 7.1 Gold. Penny for your thoughts, all constructive criticism considered an appreciated.

I was going to buy a sound card and the Auzentech had reallly good reviews I believe it was pretty reasonable compared to it's competition too.

Ok mate, thanks for the reply. I'm at work atm, but I'll check out some of the Auzentech reviews when I get home

im sorry my vote is for X-fi for gaming, but if ur not worried about that id get the Auzentech HDA X-Mystique 7.1 Gold, but for only 30 dollars more u can get the X-fi Fatality. when i install the drivers i dont install all the extra crap that creatives gives, just the simple drivers.

what about the 'Auzentech X-Meridian'

its their newest one,i think frag has one?

they are available in the uk for about £100-120 not sure about down under though,it looks nice.

i have also heard some good things on the xfi(waits for frag to come beat me up lol)

cheers.

IIRC the b-Enspirer actually uses the same processing chip as the X-Meridian (as does the Razer Barracuda and a few others I'm too lazy to go look up), so I would go with that one

I know Ty07allstar has the AuzenTech Xplosion and likes it a lot on his Z-5500s. And of course Frag has the X-meridian that he's always raving about.

So my vote goes to anything AuzenTech.

I have an X-Fi and after owning an Auzentech I was thoroughly unimpressed with their gaming support.

2what are you going to be doing on this PC Peevs?

If it's just listening to music then Auzentech is the way to go, if gaming then X-Fi is the ONLY way to go imo

Ok cool, more food for thought. So are the X-Fi drivers better than the audigy series ones? Because the ones on my Audigy 4 are really clunky, and temperamental at times.

Not quite as bad, although they're still creative ;)

I agree with Kemp. Right now Creative dominates the gaming market with their X-FIs. The X-FI Fatal1ty is right in the middle and really nice. Install the card, pop in the cd, and have Windows search the cd for the drivers, DONE. Dont even have to install all the extra crap from Creative.

Since when did Bluegears hit the market again? Because Bluegears used to market the HiTec cards which Auzentech now markets. And it was my understanding that Bluegears went under? I'm interested to know if Bluegears cards are still made by HiTec?

At any rate, the X-Mystique and X-Plosion are both terrific, I've had both and both dominated. If I were to get a new card right now however I'd be going for the brand new X-Meridian, that baby is total secks.

No you don't, but the X-Fi has some nice extra features

Listening to tunes and gaming mate, that's about it. :)

Exactly what I use my X-fi Xtreme Music for. I didn't want to buy another Creative card again but sadly there aren't any alternatives if you're serious about gaming. Anyway I can't complain music and games sound good enough to me, especially through my 5.1 speakers.

Vista does away with DirectSound doesn't it? Do you guys think that will open up some competition now between soundcards where games are concerned?
