Hey guys and gals.

Its been a long time since my last folding rig but apart from the nice shiny new program not a lot has really changed.
My main rig was a "high end" AMD XP 3000+ socket A jobbie at the time and a dedicated Duron 1100 for folding on United devices lol

Now though i have a htpc running fx-4100 windows 7 thats been folding away for that last 48 hours.

But to the real point of this tread, I was given this today http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=migr-64905

Dual Xeon E5430 full server tower, I mean how cool!. I've always wanted to have a play with dual sockets anyway.

do you think it would be worth having this folding away in my garage

If it doesn't suck too much electricity then I say go for it :)

You could give it a try and see, but that's only 8 cores with no HT. CPU folding really isn't worth it anymore IMO. GPU is where it's at. You could let it run for ~24 hours and check the PPD to see if it's worth it to you.

Welcome back!
