This Screen Decent?

well.. from the reviews i read on newegg it sounds like its a great monitor, and i also looked at all the sites on the first page of google and i couldnt really find user reviews except for on newegg... but its supposedly good. 5ms repsonse time is alright, 2 is better but since your on a budget u cant really go into that price range. its better then the repsonse time on my monitor and im have no problems with 8ms so 5 is good for the ammount you want to spend.

Thanks for the input. I was basically thinking the same thing. The only thing that had worried me was i hadn't heard of the brand but the reviews on newegg seem to say that it is a great monitor.

If I remember right, they are a long time OEM supplier of LCD's to several of the bigger names, and have just recently started marketing products under their own brand.

I've been looking at a Westinghouse 22" wide screen that just came out here, great specs and the picture looks pretty good in the store. As a matter of fact, the wife, who is a professional photo printer, says that it had the best color of all the large wide screens in the store.

Looks like a decent display but the response time rating means NOTHING, espcially on no-name brand monitors.

They probably used the black to grey measurement for their published for their timing which is usually the fastest color change on ANY flat panel display. Now if they were to measure the change from red to green or some other combination of colors this time could be MUCH longer, I'm talking 16+ ms.

So what I'm trying to say is never judge a monitor by its posted response rate, that's about the worst way to go monitor shopping. Also remember that the faster the response rate the lower the visual quality of the display will be. You need to find the happy medium between response and clarity.

From the reviews it looks to be a decent set though, I might take my chances on it. I think you'd be much better off getting a name brand display by a company such as ViewSonic, Sceptre, Hyundai, Dell, etc.

a good idea is to check out reviews but also enduser comments on a screen, espically enduser comments gives alot of information.

With the response time rating system the way it is these days is why I plan on buying my next LCD locally or at least looking and testing one at a local store before I buy. I plan on taking my rig along and telling the sales people either you let me connect my rig to the ones I'm interested in, or I go elsewhere...........;)

That's the best thing about a community like this, we can all learn something at any time from anyone. I learn something new every day around this place, it's great!

Alright Frag teck. What would you recomend in my price range. I really want a widescreen and my budget is max $220 U.S. Lol i know, not much to work with.

EDIT: With dvi.

Yup I had that monitor and it was AWESOME. No ghosting and it had a nice crisp display, no backlight bleed either. I love Hyundai displays as they use nice samsung panels.

The only real con of widescreen is that some games don't support widescreen resolutions natively. Most games these days do, still a few dont. But the ones that don't usually have a work around to it. Or you can just play and have it stretched a bit.

Widescreen is definately where it's at though. It gives you a feeling of having a lot more useful desktop real estate no matter what size your ws is.

Yea, i definetly want to get a widescreen. So should i go with the namebrand but lower specs or should i risk hanns g and get supposedly better specs. (you talking about the 5ms could only be black and white really shot my confidence in getting the hanns g) Also, it seems like the people who bought it liked it but idk how many games they play. I mainly play cs:s right now. But ill get other games when they come out like UT 07 and such.

Personally mate I'd go for a name brand... That way you really can't go wrong. Get something that's tried and true.
