This RTX 4090 from 51RISC has a built-in spirit level

Considering how much they are charging for these things I wish they'd put more effort into their designs, Like covering the exposed sides of the fins with some type of mesh to give a more solidly built design aesthetic.

The mesh would likely hinder airflow, act as a dust magnet and lead to increased thermals fella.

Secondly, you'd have to have more money than sense to buy one in the first instance.

In fairness, I don't think this is kind to those that have a genuine use case for a 4090. While the pool of those use cases is rather small, they do exist. Content creators that game will see a lot of benefit going with a 4090. They are people, not just with more money than sense, but who value what the card offers more than their money, which is often more time.

Most purchase decisions come down to two factors (at least in broad terms): money and time.

For example, a couple who both have high paying jobs and a sick/elderly parent living with them won't quit their jobs to stay at home as carers because their time is more valuable than paying for a full-time carer.

Conversely, another person will wash their car themselves rather than pay a machine or another person to do it because they value their money more than their time. They'd rather spend an hour of their time washing their car than giving a machine that takes ten minutes and costs €12. They earn €15/hr in their job, but they'd rather keep that €12 and spend an hour cleaning the car themselves.

Those that value their time will see solid returns by buying a 4090. Again, that pool of individuals is kinda small from what I can tell. But they do exist.

Personally I don't care what people buy. I just hate the price increases and lack of genuine innovation in terms of performance or power efficiency. They just add more power and performance. Not something I care for when electricity costs keep rising, especially since performance isn't that impressive to me generation to generation.

Have electricity prices gone up a lot in the States as well? I thought you guys had your own gas sources that weren't affected by the conflict in Ukraine?

I know but that's something they should sort out in design, so many cards look ugly to me as they have exposed sides.

I'm buying a mate of mines 4090 FE for half price when the inevitable 4090 Ti or if they call it a Titan launches probably next summer, No way in hell would I pay £1600 for a GPU.

Fair comment Dice, there are some truly fugly GPU designs out there bud.

To me personally there's only 1 card that looks decent from the side, The Founders Edition, I know it's highly subjective but I really don't like the look of a lot of the 4000 series, They mostly look like Fisherprice toys.
