Thinking of building my first Rig! Help and Advice on parts needed.

Hey Guys!

First post so hopefully this goes well!

So I've been thinking of building myself a rig for a long time. Had the computer I've got just now for 4+ years (Q6600, 8800GT).

I'm not looking for all the top of the range stuff but i am the sort of guy who likes to future proof as much as possible. So...... I'd be using the computer for the usual internet, movies, music etc etc but i also do video editing and there are some games coming out soon that I'd like to get (Sim City and Crysis 3)

I'd say my budget it around £1000 but may be tempted to stretch it a bit if needed. Been looking at the 3770K, Nvidea 680/Amd 7970, H100i and the Asus Sabertooth. Would like a really nice looking case too.

So basically what I'm asking is for you guys to pretty much put together a Rig for me and sell me on the parts you've chosen as I'm having trouble deciding.

Appreciate any help given!

Cheers Guys!

As for the graphics, I would personally choose the 7970 (non GHz Edition) as it usually can be overclocked at GHz Edition levels, which is the faster card, plus it's cheaper. Other than that, the rest really looks fine, just make sure you get an SSD or the whole thing will be slowed down.

the ssd only helps with booting tbh thats the only difference ive found with them. as long as your cpu can handle a better gpu just uprate that and see how you go matey

What you are looking at sounds ok just watch a lot of Tom's vids on cases graphics cards and then choose one that right for you and you should be ok.

Sounds like a very nice setup , the power supply might be a bit too much unless your installing another 7970 , even then I think it's a little overkill. I have a ax760i in my system and it's to much , my ups says I'm drawing 216 watts so my psu fan never runs. Others here with more knowledge than me will tell you better.
But the rest of the components sound good to me.

The 860i power supply was the same price as the 760i so thought why not just go for it...
