That's wierd cos I have seen loads of GPU's with shims in my experience (computer engineer since 1995)

This thread is 100% comedy due to the fact you seem to think you know loads and yet what you have said proves otherwise: You took it to somewhere to get it tested, You put the shim + heatsink on without checking contact, you didn't know what the 6pin adapter was, for some reason the thread was started saying about the GPU heatsink and yet it turned out there was no power in the system at all? (in your vast knowledge you didn't think it was the PSU?)

The thread could go on and on, with all the single word replies tbh

yes I know there are some GPUs with shims.

I took it to a shop to get a second opinion.

I did check contact, THE PASTE WAS FLATTENED OUT, how many more times do I have to repeat that, don't you people read properly?

I didn't need the 6 pin adapter!

I think that whilst you may have a valid complaint: not checking temps and not checking seating are pretty major and simple mistakes

Flaming is not welcome and taking the mickey out of people for a lack of knowledge is not welcome either (both for new and current members) so the people involved in the bad vibes beware.
