thermal tape

yeah something like that, but if I remember correctly the tape on the bottom of those ram sinks was clear, so didn't know if you could get a roll of it or not

Possibly, there are OEM packages that come on rolls, but I've never seen them on a roll for sale anywhere, only pre-cut.

Well if it really is that stuff I think going with thermal tape would be an improvement since I can't find any thermal properties on the 3M page so presumably it is not specifically designed as a thermal solution.
But to be honest I think it's a different tape. Only way to be sure would be to ask Koolance which tape they're using and then trying to get that.

Isn't that just double-sided PVC? Wouldn't have thought it transferred heat very well.

I don't suppose its the thermal conduction rather it could stand the heat with out melting and cheaper for koolance :)

Claimed upper temp resistance for that tape is about 85°C, so can't see it melting on your VRAM, only real issue is if it acts as an insulator.

true, OH well I got to do some ordering from specialtech so may go with the alphacool pads and get a new res as this xspc dual bay is a pain to bleed

thanks for the help
