The Witcher is getting ramade "from the ground up" using Unreal Engine 5

Pretty exciting stuff. Never finished the first one. Played it I believe over 10 years after it released. Was difficult to get into at that time

Normally I'd be excited but this is a minimum of 3+ years away which makes it kinda meh.
I'm not sure it'll be that long? The game is quite small iirc.

I played the first one, and it really shows its age. Hopefully they use UE5, and also update the combat system etc.

This is going to be a (woke) modern re-imagining. Being CD Projekt red just brought out a video showing how they've gone woke and will follow ESG as a guide, this game will be destroyed along with any further game from them.

ESG is a spear head for the people pushing all of this woke nonsense.

Wow, that comment section is fiery. I had no idea CD Projekt Red were now hated so much. Weren't they the most popular developer back when TW3 came out?

CDPR as a company for me ended after The Witcher 3's last expansion came out, CP2077 while pretty is lackluster, The Witcher 3 was their last great game, They have now gone full loony lefty and I'm thankful they publicly announce their insanity with their involvement with ESG, Means I avoid CDPR games and save some money :)

But are people actually going to not support them? I hear this kind of thing a lot, yet people still end up supporting them down the line. People have bemoaned Nvidia countless times saying they'll not buy a 4090 because it's gross. So instead they'll buy a 3080Ti on sale. I'm like, 'Dude, you're still supporting Nvidia...'

I am fervently anti loony left, CDPR have gone full loony left, I'll just give a little more to charity than give them money.

That's just a bunch of buzzwords meant to appease potential investors. I know how this crap works. I used to work for an NGO. When we wrote projects for potential donors, depending on the donor we sometimes had to write stuff like "we'll take into account gender equality bla, bla, bla". It's meaningless drivel, really. All you have to do to get the all clear is invite an equal number of men and women to whatever conference you're organizing. Stupid stuff like that.

I'll worry about this when I see the game.

This might well be true, but it's destroying their image, at least among their hardcore fanbase. What good is pleasing investors if by doing so they alienate their customer base and force them to boycott future projects?

Take Rings of Power and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law as examples. Maybe those shows were mandated to fit a certain social/political narrative in order to please investors. But in doing so, they have tarnished their respective properties and have done irreparable damage—while also performing poorly financially.

Yet, in spite of that, the developers of these shows have doubled down on how valid their left-wing ideologies are, calling their critics (which are actually just their audience at large) "evil", "racist" or "sexist". How is that going to please investors in the long run? I don't see Disney investors as being overly happy with how poorly Phase Four of the MCU has done financially compared to Phase Three, when a large part of the reason for that is because it's been pushing a social/political narrative that has no basis in actual fairness or proper representation down the throats of its audience.

They were probably obligated though some type of contract to publicly state this crap.

This is more about the work environment than the product. However, the danger does exist. If they hire someone who insists on implementing the nauseating social justice agenda into the games, it will show. But these guys are Polish. So I wouldn't count on it.
