From what I've been told, this is because they used Microsoft's built-in matchmaking and stuff, and Steam's and they are *not* cross compatible.

The game is 20% off on the MS store, they'll have a lot of angry customers asking for refunds pretty soon i guess.

I wouldn't call it laziness. They already have the matchmaking systems, so they are using them. That's smarter than just spending money to do the same thing. However they should know that it's a stupid idea and should have made there own stuff to be cross compatible. The money spent on that would pay off. Not the other way around

I wonder what the breakdown of Xbox v PS4 v PC users is?
They really shouldn't have to re-invent the wheel if they already have the mm system. Of course steam is more popular for now but it's really one of those titles they can start to get people back from steam. I can see why they'd do it, despite the obvious short comings.

99% of pc gamers have a substantial steam collection so they wont even consider yet another game platform to have running along side steam. The only reason people use origin and uplay is because they are game publishers and restrict thier games to thier own platforms.

Avoiding the MS bashing, it's a bold move, I'm not saying it is a good or the right move, but I for one am really interested in seeing how this unfolds.

Personally I think it's an interesting experiment and will be keeping a close eye on it all!

I think the main problem is that MWR doesn't have particularly good numbers on Steam, about 30k players in total last time i saw the leaderboards and ~5k concurrent players peak on launch. I'm fairly sure that the numbers for the MS version are maybe 1/10th of that, the game will be dead in like a month.

I wouldn't be surprised if they fell below 20 million this time, the trend is definitely going down.

This is hilarious, seriously can't my head around a dumb move like this... Who even comes up with these "ideas"?...
