Good stuffs, although labeling it as a "sport" makes my teeth itch, sport in my eyes entails physical competitive activity or athletes. Still it's good news for the world of gaming.

Yeah I kinda agree and in a way I think it actually is a negative association when it comes to gaming because I think it leads non gamers to believe we're trying to justify gaming as sport rather than competitive activity.

To my knowledge things like Chess aren't referred to as sport so why is gaming.

I am far more comfortable with the term "E-Sports" though because even though it contains the word sport, in my mind it's a term created entirely for this kind of competitive activity

It should be E-Series or E-Gaming, something that reflects what it actually is (sponsored televised LAN party).

You guys couldn't be more in the wrong about it not being a sport.

Even the US visa bureau considers eSports a sport.

^ +1 on this... even the biggest names in Professional Counter-Strike history has said you kinda have to be somewhat fit, have good condition etc in order to be alert, deal with long sessions of gaming and so on.

From what I remember he used to run a lot, same with Fatal1ty etc... although I'm not a fan of either, I'm just stating here gaming on a higher level do involve some kind of physical and mental training in order to stay at the top.

Korean league of legends teams train 16 hours a day, have a coach and several analysts, they work out physically and mentally and compete at the highest level every week in a league.

Arenas are getting packed and the spectating aspect is increasing massively everyday. Most of these eSports games actually are more true to the word "sport" than most traditional sports.

Expect big things that you'll probably have to pay a premium to watch.
it needs to stay 'free' and on the internet. last thing we need is Sun Boss buying all the rights to it and charging us for it.
