£500 for something that will likely be replaced by something better by the time winter's out?

No thanks.

699€, my PC can support it according to their compatability site but no way I will pay that much for it.

What does the kickstarter pay for? I assumed it would have been cheaper because of the kickstarter money, maybe I don't understand the concept of kickstarter enough.

We really need to know what the Vive's price is now. It better be lower and if it is Oculus has lost.

Oculus lack the new "view the real world" feature the Vive has, so if the Vive has a lower price Oculus will lose a lot of orders.

Dude, this is totally Blu Ray VS DVDHD, or VHS VS Betamax. Either way early adopters are going to get nailed.

I'm leaving this crap at least a year until it's all settled and done.

At least I know my rig can pretty much mangle it.

That is to much for me, i would have considered it at 400 euro, but apparently its sitting on 700.

yeah £300-400 would have had me, but this is a bit much.

Let's hope valve and HTC save the day with a cheaper Vive.

Somehow i really doubt the Vive would be a lot cheaper, it maybe 50 dollar cheaper but considering the technology is not even close to the point of being cheap to mass produce it to is going to be a sting to the wallet.

Yeah, but given the fact it has an extra feature it will really kill the rift at it's price.

I'm hoping for a PS4/Xbox One style conflict which will result in a quick price drop.

This price just shows they are not giving away free upgraded new units to the early funders. They are making all the early adopters pay for them.

£250 was my limit, This price extracts the urine though, I'll wait a couple of generations.

Wanna know the dumb part? People will pay that price. Nvidia have shown that you can quite clearly take the pee out of PC gamers and they will pay extortionate sums for bragging rights.

It'll sell like hot cakes and the l337 will brag, same as always.

What concerns me more is the spec needed. Apparently it's like running 3x1080p @ 90hz and if you drop below 70 FPS you will feel rather ill. Min spec is a 290x or 970 but apparently one of the launch games requires at least a 980. That means that really you need at least a 980ti or Fury X for the best experience and once again that makes it only for the rich.

Things like that simply don't catch on as they are not available to the masses.

Maybe if the price drops we will see more users but due to the rig you need to run it right now it's kinda stupid.

I know that I'm lucky to have the rig I do but I'm about as far away from being rich as could be. It's taken me three months to save up for my Fury X and as an aspie who never goes out, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink etc that's a long time.

It's a shame this. Same old.

There will definitely be quite a few sales regardless of how much sense( Vive :D ) it makes. Many people and kids all want what the latest thing.

We should be glad that people buy them, in the long run it is just better for us that are not so rich or privileged, in 2 years time i hope we have gpu's capable of easily doing vr for a good deal cheaper then what we pay now, and 2 years isnt really that long considering how new the technology is and how much it will need to mature over that time, that includes the gaming industry that wants to do vr support.
