The Display Ports on Nvidia GTX 1080/70 don't work with HTC Vive

I have a vive and a 1080 and to get it to work I just connect the monitor's HDMI to the graphics cards DVI port using a HDMI to DVI adapter and connect the Vive to the HDMI port on the graphics card, job done, never need to use the display ports!

Hardly a solution for everyone.

Why? MOST monitors come with a dvi / hdmi port on them, so while not the ideal solution it is much better than not being able to use your VR hardware. Sides the adapters are like 10 bucks or so on amazon lol...cheap enough to do that rather than wait on nvidia to actually fix it months down the road.

So suddenly MOST = everyone. OK

Ok so users are using the HDMI port on the card to hook up the monitor and are trying to use an HDMI-DP adaptor for the Vive. I seriously doubt there would be ANY issue in using that same HDMI-DP adaptor for the monitor and plugging the Vive directly in the HDMI port... If anyone would care to explain WHY that would not be possible please go ahead...

To be fair if you're smashing the dollar on a VR headset, and you own a 1070/1080.. Cost isn't exactly a limiting factor is it? Moot point me thinks

My point was that it isnt a solution for everyone, each has their own needs. So obviously it would be a much better solution for nVidia to fix the problem if at all possible. Some boards also dont play nice with adapters.

Given that nVidia doesnt seem to be doing anything about it at the moment, or so it would seem, I hardly see it being a good move to just go out and buy and adapter to call it a day when you shouldnt have to. Better to make some noise whilst using the adapter as a temporary solution.

Just giving my two pence worth mate...

Dont recall saying you were wrong, mate. Only that it wasnt a solution for everyone.

Well Mine doesnt. Display port only. I can't see why I should have to purchase additional connectors due to issues created by the card vendor. 10 bucks or not, its still unnecessary spending.

Considering they put a large VR badge on every 1070/80 package i assume they are doing something about it. Just because there is no official statement doesn't mean nothing is happening.
