Some people knew it was coming but didn't know how soon. AMD has announced that they will no longer produce S939 and S754 cpus soon.

Read about it HERE

Sorry about this. I posted the news last night and right as I click submit for the forum topic the net died on me :(

That's definitely the way to get end users to adopt your new platform I guess. I'm sure it'll put a few noses out of joint along the way  Socket 754 owners are very restricted in their upgrade path anyway; but the one that surprised me was the discontinuing of the X2

i'm pretty mixed about this. for example, i'm buying pc parts bit by bit for a build, and now my 2gb of pc4000 ddr1 ram will depreciate in value really quickly. i also have to get rid of a motherboard aswell, so this kinda sux. i better be able to get my money back from re-selling it :(

on the other hand, it will be nice to have a sure upgrade path, but there arent exactly many decent budget am2 overclockers boards as of yet..

this is sad as it was not long ago that i built my rig but oh well conroe is ony couple months away now,to anyone who are building now....sell your **** and just wait for conroe its simple.

cheers.

hang about why are they stopping production of 2mb l2 cache AM2 cpus?

did i miss something
