Hey guys and gals! It's finally time.. With the help of this community's great minds I've somehow managed to pick out components and order them.. which is amazing considering I'm the worst person in the world for making decisions which concern proper expenditure
Anyway.. enough about me and more about the rig! Obviously, after watching every single of Tom's vids on youtube so far and registering here I've had a cracking time and the rough spec was this:
Xigmatek Utgard
ASUS X58 Sabertooth
I7 950
Mushkin Redline
GTX 460 sli
750 watt PSU
With that in mind I started thinking about how much it's going to cost and quite frankly I seriously am not one of the most well-off people on this planet. Been saving for literally ages and tightening my belt but it has all paid off! After some help from BloomerzUK I decided I was better off using something slightly bigger than the Uttie in which case I decided to go with CCL's beautiful offer for the NZXT Phantom (<3 Yewen!). After reading Mr.Strawberry's review of the Asus DirectCU 768s I thought that for that price I couldn't go wrong! Then came Tom and showed off the utterly fabulous Mushkin Radioactive and as a die-hard Fallout fan I just had to have them
. The 750 watt PSU was going down one street and one street only - Corsair. I didn't care so much about the white PSUs offered by NZXT at that time cos I bought my TX-750 for just a shade over 65 quid which in my mind is an absolute bargain.Monitor choice was quite difficult as I was on a budget but I managed to pick up a brand new Sammy 2450-H for £140! Then came the days of waiting for delivery (felt more like freaking years!).
And then as I was having my lunch at precisely 13:36 o'clock (aww damn.. that's the only reason I wished they had arrived a minute later) the big, yellow CityLink van pulled up in front of the house and consignment CRW01291 aka the goodies found its home.

Ah, nothing like the smell of fresh components, shall I say, with my nerd voice on?

Unfortunately the case didn't arrive the same day
What I did was pop in the chip and install the beautifully crafted NH-D14.

I was impressed by everything that Noctua gave me! Everything from the packaging through the accessories and last but of greatest importance to me the performance.

But SHEESH! This thing is absolutely massive! ("That's what she said" moment?) It somehow managed to make the Sabertooth look small!
Unfortunately I had to call it a day for the PC itself. That didn't mean, however, that I couldn't hook up the brilliant screen to my ancient laptop
The next morning literally thirty seconds after I woke up and checked my e-mails to see that my case was dispatched from the chaps over at DPD I heard a familiar knocking noise suggesting a Ford diesel engine. As I looked out of the window I saw the van and that's the moment I literally switched off. It was all here!

I could seriously get cracking then. I hurried up and popped the mobo in the case.

Just as it was looking nice and tidy came the time for the power supply.

C3PO naked.

After a while of struggling with the cables I finally managed to hide them all!

But hey! Stop! Windows time!

After Windows, drivers and lots of other things I was quite tired and called it a night.
Next morning I decided to find it a permanent home and fix up all the wires. Got a surge protected extention as well and VOILA, the PC was complete!

Again, I can't quite express my gratitude to this lovely community!
Cheers, Todd
