I'm beginning to think that a PC upgrade is imminent for me. My good old 660ti get's left out by more and more recommended specs lists

I'm betting they put the 980 as Ultra just to be on the safe side.
All previous Arkham games ran like a dream, No AA and they run even better ^_^

Welp, I meet the CPU requirement, but my 1GB of VRAM seems to be holding my rig back a bit...

To the author - You noted that for the ultra requirements you needed a quad core Piledriver CPU, it does need a quad module FX processor, but the 8350 is a octo core processor.

since when did they make GTX 980s with 3GB vram?

It appears to have gameworks, hence no amd recommendations.

I don't think that ultra would be "fine" with 8GB of total system RAM.
Also with the game getting DX12 support afterwards, you are going to need those 8 logic cores!
As for a gpu, if 3GB is fine a 780ti would run the game fairly good too!

I thought the exact same thing on both of those.. gotta love Nvidia shelling out money.. Also going on a limb they chose a 980 on purpose for ultra.. gets more people to buy it..

If you run 300 tabs open and a virtual machine in the background then maybe. I seriously don't get how people are managing to use more than 8GB ram when gaming. Especially with Windows 8.1.

Most I've seen is 6GB while gaming but that was with Chrome open in the background, Winamp playing music, Email client open and using Skype ^_^

I was running a copy of Ubuntu 64bit with 2gb ram (its a virtual machine) which had firefox open. My PC also had spotify open playing music, Chrome was open with fb etc, GTA V and Teamspeak were all open and I wasn't using 8gb. The only thing that was maxing out was my vram, but thats because 3GB isn't enough for GTA.

If your PC is idling and using more than 2GB of ram something is a bit off imo.

[My PC has 4GB of ram and it is using 1.6 GB on idle. then again it's DDR2 ram if that matters... IDK really weird. Firefox uses lots of ram too, not as much as chrome. Chrome is ram intensive, firefox is cpu intensive...]

web browsers all seem to have a memory leak thse days. just keep eating more and more of it and never release it.

still for gaming 8gb is plenty for me, its not like its shared ram with an apu or something.

as for the game. It is actually one i have been looking forward too and it looks like i will be able to play it at a respectable frame rate if i dont go overbard with the effects at 1080p So im pretty happy.

I've still not properly played any of the Batman games. It really doesn't help that I'm not into Super Heroes at all..

I did try playing the second one but it just felt a bit like Final Fight to me.

Just because you are sleeping doesn't automatically mean the rig is idling?

Well ffs then dude... if you are sleeping, and the PC isn't doing anything, just sitting doing nothing, but having stuff open and using that amount.

Good enough now? :p
