Synology Announces the New Disk Station DS408

Still like the idea of having a disk enclosure thing that`ll take all kinds of harddrives ide/sa, with eth/usb/fire connections, and it presents to the pc 1 drive that is a summation of whatever u throw in it.

Atm u can obviously do this via a small pc setup that u purpose build, but having something small and compact would be nice.

Hmm, I`m thinking of a project now.

quite

needs to be raid

If i had the time i think i'd build my own case.

It`s semi-annoying that I have something like 300g ide, 200g ide, 200g sa x3, 160 sa, 120 sa, on the shelf.

It`d be nice just to be able to plug them into 1 device and have... almost 1.5T available. Over a usb or something, I`m not going to be worried about it being max speed or anything. Even eth into a router for network storage - again it`d be a project to build a pc, but then it`d be nice just to have a device/caddy.

Hehe dont we all, It appeals to me too, not having to transfer data to your current HDD just add the old Hdd to the system above and have all ur old data only a USB away, awesome, as-long as the old hard drives remain stable.
