Nice review Tom. I was excited when I saw this; white, LEDs, platinum and that price! Shame it didn't quite live up to the expectations it put upon itself but that price is still awesome.

This is the first PSU I've really liked the aesthetics look of since this old PSU which was launched back in 06.

Effeciancy aside, Tom do you think that the fan noise is down to the ugle press cut fan grill? Do you think if you where to cut out that grill and install a higher grill like this one that would fix the noise?

It seems like making doing this mod would be very simple and could have a positive impact on the noise level. If it isn't the grill causing that turbulent noise it may just be a bad low quality fan design that they have used.

Its motor noise as well dude - I think its just a poor fan IMHO

Hmm well that sucks I was hoping to replace my now ageing OCZ PSU with this nice white one. But I may hold off for a 2nd revision of this.

*Thanks for that image TPC. It really is a cheapo fan. Looks like it's even pure dc voltage controlled not even a 3pin thermal or pwm.

I would have been happy to pay even $50 more if it had a better fan design. I'm still running this old thing. It's power Isn't bad but the red lighting clashes badly with my case theme & It's horrid rubber flat cables are the worse design I've ever seen. Only reason I've got it is it was a prize I won at a LAN event.

Very nice review Tom, I was expecting a 'loook it's white :o' ergo best PSU ever, I know it must be hard to deal with your fetish, but it seemed to be conducted in a very unbiased manner. To be honest it is exactly what I expected from Super Flower and i'm sure the fan will in no way bother the target audience of people who like garish shiny white things and benchmarkers who just want dat ripple suppression.

I wonder if it's EVGA branded counterpart (it does have one right ) manages to have a better fan and profile, because aside that and the looks it appears to be a really solid choice.

If I recall corectly EVGA don't change anything other than the color and texturing of the case. Then again evga's record with fans probably means that its a good thing...

that is one sexy looking psu I wonder if they will release a black and red themed one as that would look wicked

I just got my Leadex SuperFlower 1000w Gold ( SF-1000F14MG ) today.
Excellent bit of kit. Cool and quiet compared to the old PSU it has replaced.

Oh oh really important question. The fan isn't by any chance hybrid mode, is it? I mean does it always spin full speed no matter the load?

There is a switch at the back. I can be set to Auto or Eco modes.
Eco is default and the fan only spins if it starts to get warm. So just browsing etc it is totally silent.
