Super Dooper Uber fast internet.

The other day i was looking at the details of the 100Gb/s @ 40km ethernet standard being sorted by IEEE at the moment, damn thing must be made mostly of stuff like that

The problem is going to eventually hit where our HDD's cant write the data fast enough.

What lots of RAMs for baby ;)

All this speed sounds a bit overkill to me, why would anyone need that much bandwidth?

Yea cant really think of a public application thats not just due to impatience. Can see it being useful in scientific fields though

1 word...Porn, lol!

but in all seriousness, that just sounds epic. Makes the matrix all the more believable!

Well this is all assuming that the LHC doesn't kill us all first in May 2008 :). Just kidding, but if this network has half the potential they say it does, for commercial applications we could see internet speeds in Europe and North America increasing by 100's of times in the next few years. Of course they first need to come out with affordable hardware to handle it, which should take a bit of time.
