Suggestions please guys :)

Hey lads,

Well its coming to that time where its time for me to build a completely new pc, and while i'm sure on what sort of components i'm going to have, i'm a bit stuck on what water cooling i should go for (i haven't used water cooling before). It will be a high end system with either a dual or quad core intel processor, probably a 9800 GTX as and when they come out, 4gb ram, perhaps an Asus Blitz Mobo or an X38 when there are more about.

So basically i need your ideas and suggestions on what water cooling setup to have, now on the Blitz mobo i've seen you need water cooling for the chipset itself? (please correct if i'm wrong) and i'd like to also get the cpu watercooled if possible on the same loop. Not too bothered about watercooling the GPU at this stage but if there was something i could do to make that possible on the watercooling loop in the future i would probably look at it even more.

Now i know i'm going to need a decent sized case for all of this (not least for the oversized GPUs nowadays) so if you guys could suggest a case/watercooling setup that'd be great, a budget for those 2 parts would probably be around £250 at max.

Cheers lads,

A case AND watercooling for £250... fuzion cpu block ~£40, dual rad, the best is thermochill, pa120.2 will do you ~£50, ddc pump ~£50, case is down to taste but you can fit double rads in most cases and lian li make some nice ones, as do silverstone...

Or you could get that £100 case with w/c aqua-pc are doing.

Oh, the blitz does need the nb w/c - if you add any extra voltage without water on it it overheats and shuts down.

just had a look and the budget can go up to £300 i think :) and thanks Mr. Smith, much appreciated info and suggestions :)

I'd suggest a roomy case, especially if you're considering two loops at a later date (or will you include the gpu in the same loop)? I've got a single loop for the cpu in a Lian Li PC7 (midi) and putting another in would be difficult, full towers cost a few quid more but I think they're worth it.

Mr Smiths recommendations are sound, same wc setup as me really, but I use 7/16 Masterkleer tubing over 1/2" barbs and it makes a good seal (I still use hoseclips to be safe).

Yeah, I basically recommended my loop lol, I also use 7/16" tubing over 1/2" barbs with no clips (to be dangerous :D)

As for roomy case... Depends what you like tbh...

This is my taste

With planning you can get anything into almost any case.

You'll be fine with cpu/gpu in one loop, tripple rad is a prerequisite with those high end components (hot) ;)

PA120.3 ftw.

Yeah I was tempted to do this, looks a bit snazzier but I'd rather save my hardware.. one of my friends has a tendency to kick my case - I'll seek revenge soon enough. Another chap on another forum had one slip off, shocking I know, don't think my heart could take it.

I'd almost agree, you could make any loop system work with ingenious arrangement and a bit of modding. PA120.3 simply won't fit in my case, it would require me to butch my case, PA120.2 is very snug indeed. I'd aim for a case that can house a PA120.3 as I reckon it's worth the extra effort. :worship:

Kick your mate!

True about some cases - things won't fit. I'm currently squeezing a pa120.3 with delta fans (thick as) in a lian li v1000.

Once my mobo arrives watch out for it in the show it off section - won't be anything special but should be nice

ps Leeds ftw
