Suggestions for a Laptop CCFL to LED upgrade

Hey guys, got myself a problem and you are my last resort.

I have got an Acer Aspire 5738z screen to replace on one of my laptops. This is an older version of the device and it comes with a CCFL display, however the newer revisions have the LED variant. So I am thinking of switching to an LED screen but I have found a few issues along the way.

First of all the main display cable from the mobo to the display is different, one I believe is the 30 pin with an inverter connection (my original one), the other is the 40 pin with no inverter connector. To give you an idea I will provide eBay links below.
Old type - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-ACER-...ther_Computing_Networking&hash=item337e9d4c38
Newer type - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281004106685?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Now I would imagine that new LED displays have something similar to a CCFL inverter for the backlight, except it is not a separate board, but integrated on the main matrix board. Please correct me if I am wrong...
If it is, and the motherboard connector fits cable socket and wiring wise, I would imagine that getting that revision cable would be my way out of this for the LED panel.

I am aware of the solution online that come with a bypass inverter-like board for the LED screens, but I find them to be clumsy solutions, therefore would like to know if my idea is possible.
Here is an example of such a bypass kit - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ACER-ASPI...Laptop_Screens_LCD_Panels&hash=item485151c532

Hope that you guys can help me out and provide your suggestions or direction for some info. I could try and get one of them kits, but my perfectionism is killing me here, plus I want to learn something new from this, especially if I have missed something crucial in this idea.
I have disassemble probably over 100 computers by now, even had to replace optical elements in the LCD at one point, but this situation got me wondering.

Thanks for your time.
