Stocky's new Freezer

Well it hasn't been fast or easy, there were some 'supply problems' to deal with, and of course cleaning up the wiring to my standards of course ;)

So the MCT IV from Ssilencer has been redone, and other than one rivet (I can't drill after 10PM 8) and getting the LED's working for the 'feet' of this thing, it's pretty much done.

It seems to be reading about 5c high on load, and 10c high on No load, so either the contact is poor on the head (likely as the shape and type of probe it uses is hard to get the best contact with) or the controller's trim is off, which can be set up in the new software I've heard.

Anyways, on the Fluke I got -37 at 170w, and -57 or so on No-Load after coming off of load. From cold it was about -60, but the No-Load comes up when the compressor heats up.

Not really the biggest issue, it's been checked with the Fluke and the temps are what they are whatever the display shows.

Load on this one was done at 170w as I wanted to get a better idea of what it could do. I did a quick check at 150w, and it was doing about -42. I need to get it finished up quick so I'm a little limited in what I can do a pic thread on. I have surgery in 2 days, so got to get it done fast as poss.

Oh right, the display. It's got a 'line' in it, so will have to talk to Ssilencer about that. I think I'd rather get it to Stocky sooner than later, and can get it back to replace the display at a later date anyway.

So yeah, just need to see what's up with those LED's down there and get it boxed up and off to Mr. Stocky!

Cheers

Is it running r507 mate ? Good stuff Gray, pity about that display though.

True, the Aitor evap is about the only one that may outperform Chilly's heads, but it's just not as versitile as his are.

No GPU install possible, and the enclosure has to be 100% insulated.

So I gave Stocky that option, and he wanted the Chilly head.

I know that Ssilencer was a little disappointed but not everyone's needs are the same.

Anyway, got the feet LED sorted mostly (one dead light, needs a new LED) and the display has a line, but it's together and ready to ship in case Stocky wants it fast or it can stay and be repaired soon as I get the bits for it.

It sure is pretty tho :) hope it's going to a happy home.

Cheers

I'd heard that the performance difference in the heads was neglible, and as Gray said it's better to have the vesatility - although if I knew it would upset people to change it I probably would have said to leave it, lol! :$

I'm not worried about the feet LED's as I'll probably change them slightly to go with my theme, however that screen is a pain. Are we sure that's not just a connection problem to the screen - as each line is usually sent via a ribbon cable or similar? :?

Right, well I'm 100% one handed til a week monday but can look at it then if u can wait.

I have a LED to replace the bad one now and can level the back leg at the same time.

I don't have a ribbon to replace and test, but can test the ribbon soon as i have 2 hands. It's just that when i 'rub' the LCD it seems to 'cure' it but comes back. will test and find out asap just need my other hand. typing is sure dam slow :@

Look at the front fan. Does it blow air outwards (towards you, if you lok at it?))?? If it doesnt, not much air will be moved, as it has nowhere to blow it!!!!!! Even if it did suck outwards, there isnt anywhere to suck it into the fan from.

*resisting the urge to flame*

The condensor fan and the front fan work together. Air is pulled into the unit, then pulled through the condensor, then rear fan exhausts.

The condensor has a low fpi, allowing a smaller amount of air movement to do a large amount of cooling, and it's an oversize condensor for that reason.

I didn't design this unit, just rebuilt it, but it's design is quite good.

I'm not really sure what the point of your post was, but if you're not aware that air moves *through* a condensor then I think you may be posting in the wrong section 8)

Thanks Master G :)

It's a pretty 'Showy' unit, but that's part os it's charm. I got the 'feet' LED's back working again, Ssilencer did a fantastic job on the looks, and my wife, who knows plastics well, said that the perspex and fascia's were some very expensive work.

I just hope Stocky loved it. Once I sort the display out it will be 100% as it deserves to be, as one of the most attractive units ever made, and like a little piece of phase 'history' :)
