Hi, iv got an SSD which is for boot, and 3 other hard drives, im going to use my PC for gaming when i get my graphics card but my SSD only has so much space, and on steam, so games can only download to the drive that has the steam application on it (my SSD) and i want team fortress 2, but that can only download onto my SSD, but when i get battlefield 3 i want that on my SSD, so how do i make it so i can have team fortress 2 on one of my other hard drives and still work?
thanks for any help?

I hope this works

Okey, here is what you need to do for the steam part.

1. Click the "Install" button for the game you want.

2. There should be a window that pops up where you should be able to pick which drive to install the game too. This option will be under the "Choose location for install" you will have to change it from the standard that is "install under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam" to the one that's named "Create new Steam library on *drive letter*" pick the drive you want to install all your games on.

3. There should now be a new window and here you will have to create a folder to put all you games in. Click the "New Folder" button and name you folder what ever you want to.

4. Done! You now have a new Steam folder!

If it didn't work I will make you a picture guide to follow but please try this one first. :)

ok, iv already got the games downloaded, im not sure if what you said works for all games because i thinks some games need to be put on C: and you have no choice, but iv already downloaded the games, so is there a way i can just move them to a new drive and make them work in some way?
as team fortress 2 is 12gb and i have slow internet and it takes about 2 hours (literally not exaggeration) to download as my internet is 5mb/sec down

You always have a choice.

The only games you can move (without registry hacking) are Steam games. You just copy the entire Steam DIR to another drive then reinstall Steam to that directory.

il move the entire folder of steam to a different HDD i think will be best and make a shortcut to it

ok its done now, but when i opened it up, it took ages to open compared to the SSD, i got bored half way though

I would have left the Steam install on the SSD, it's super slow.

What you could have done is, back up local game files via Steam.
Then you would be able to do a restore game via Steam and choose a different install directory located on your HDD.

you can simply go into options and tell it were to save the download the install hard drives, i have my g hard drive (happy coincidence g for games) and all i do is click download and then install no worries

His problem was that he had already downloaded them and didn't want do a re-download as it would take ages. But yeah you're right in future he can do that.

i think i broke it :P
does anyone know if there is a way for me to show steam where i have put the files, as i moved steam to a new drive and left the game in another place, and it cant find them, so it there a way for me to show it the files?
