Steam announces tax hikes in 10 different countries

I notice they are doing this just after the fact that DVD/boxed games seem to have all but vanished.

Pigs. I knew this was going to happen. Barrrel+over come to mind.

Up yours Gabe, CDkeys etc FTW !

It does seem suspicious. I always shop around when I'm looking at buying games; physical, digital, various stores both on and offline. Plus I get e-mail notifications when sales happen on my wishlists. I've managed to get quite a few games lately really cheap from Amazon, Humble-Bundle, GOG etc.

Typical they will be doing it in July sometime around the sales again well Steam will have to change the Store front from USD to AUD i'm guessing they will not.

GOG is starting to look more and more like an option and GOG already has AUD pricing which makes pricing on GOG around the same pricing as Steam but in AUD.

Uk will already have the 20% VAT applied have done wince the beginning of steam I think hence why the prices on steam mirror the prices in stores at release

Tax/VAT, Charging you for being charged for buying something.

Insanity.

Don't forget if it's from abroad it's import tax then tax on petrol for it to be delivered to the shop then you get taxed for buying it and you pay extra for the other 2 taxes as well
