STALKER 2 receives an official "Cinematic Teaser" trailer

This is a series I've never played. I think I missed out on something good. I wonder how the original holds up today.

Get them! Then get the "Complete" overhaul mods from ModDB and enjoy, every true gamer should have played at least one of them. Then if you want to go uber nerd try the "Lost Alpha" stand alone mod it essentially puts all 3 games in one place and follows the original scrapped story which follows the books.

My Lost Alpha review here. https://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=64772

Amazing game, marred by the fact that you are a crap shot and every enemy is a crack shot. This leads to getting pinned down, sometimes for hours, until you run out of ammo.

You can run a hack that makes your aim better but unfortunately it also makes them even better crack shots.

Other than that and *a lot * of glitches? it's a sound game.

Wut!? Never had any issue with the weapon mechanics if anything it's closer to real life than any other title aside from the Arma series, if you're expecting auto aim head shots or nanny gaming like CoD or MoH then this isn't the game for you. The game runs basically like a sim with its use of the XRay engine and .LTX files. There is a lot to take in with the engine as all objects have substance.

It was a known problem with the game. The fact they modded it to try and change it says everything. I also don't think you fully understood what I meant, so I will try and clear it up.

You are walking through a field. Somewhere about 700 meters off into the distance is a gang. They are tiny little dots on the landscape. You can't even see them properly to be able to aim at them. Then you hear gunfire, and for every shot you hear ring out your character goes "OOF". Every single last shot they fire at you hits you, unless you are in total cover. If you happen to be in the middle of a field with just a tree or car? you're screwed. You can't run away, because every single shot they fire at you out of cover *will* hit you. So you will die if you leave cover.

You also need to fully understand what happened with STALKER. It was one of the most ambitious games ever made. It ranked right up there with games like FO3, but it was not finished. Not even close. Sadly the devs who designed it signed a deal with the devil (greedy publisher) and thus the game was released about five years before it was fully ready. You see those inanimate Lada like cars in it? you were supposed to be able to drive those. Some of the code was even present, and modders pushed it on and made them drive-able, but it was badly broken like a lot of the rest of the game. I have here in my mitts a review of Clear Sky, and the review is finished off saying "It's a broken mess. A beautiful one, but a broken mess. Will require a heavy post release patch".

I am not sure how you missed these faults and flaws, as they were really too many to list. Did you play it at launch? or much, much later?

There you go, took me about ten seconds of searching.

In the vanilla game the enemies are notorious for having a "bullet sponge" effect. After your first playthrough I would recommend getting a mod that tweaks the damage.

That is exactly what I am talking about. Sadly as I pointed out, if you alter the mechanics you just make it worse.
