Stable on IBT maximum, prime95 closes randomly

Agonizing

I have a 3770k OC'd to 4.5GHz @ 1.26V. I ran IBT on maximum for 30 passes and it passed. When I run prime95 blend when I go to sleep, i wake up with it closed. But Realtemp is still open so I know it didnt BSOD. I dont know if this matters but I have PLL overvoltage on Auto, CPU PLL on 1.725. Why would prime 95 close but IBT passes?

I'd guess the program just crashed.

They use different methods of determining stability. IBT uses Linpack whereby the load fluctuates a fair bit over the course of the test, whilst Prime95 does the Marsenne Primality Test which maxes out 100% load all the time.

Some chips hate prime95 - which is why I think it's the best for testing.

It's up to you what you want to do. I wouldn't be happy unless it was 20 run IBT and 12 hour Prime95 stable - that's just how I test mine. But others on here won't be bothered as long as it doesn't lead to games to crash.

I'd probably put CPU PLL back to auto and try again. 1.26v is pretty high for 4.5ghz (mine does it at 1.20v)

I will say - I don't really use IBT to test stress when I do my 20 runs. More so just to generate the heat that IBT is able to do to check the maximum temps I'm going to get. I'd probably stick to prime95 for proper stability.
