Split-frame SLI rendering giving better performance than AFR?

Ok this doesn't seem right... I was just doing some FRAPS FPS comparisons in EQ2 and it seems that when I switch my rendering mode from Alternate Frame Rendering to Split-Frame Rendering I get better performance. In one area with a direct comparison I was getting on average 38fps in AFR mode and about 65fps in SFR mode.

I was under the influence that AFR was the dominant rendering mode? What's the deal with this, can anyone else do a couple test with their SLI setup and report back. Just trying to figure out if the rumors can be laid to rest and I should be sticking with SFR over AFR.

Thx!
